Today, Thomn and I celebrate 12 years of wedded bliss.  So here are 12 facts, fun or not, about us.

1.      We got married in a museum, celebrated underneath a giant whale skeleton, and ate pie while we walked back to our hotel when our horse and carriage unexpectedly no showed due to a thunderstorm.

2.      The first house we lived in was a castle…no for real, check out the picture.  However, when we first walked in, I cried when I saw the size of the kitchen.  There was just a window sill where I chopped and prepped food, no real counter top.

3.      Our first kid was a Bernese Mountain Dog.  She was the best dog ever imaginable and passed away two months after we brought S home from the hospital.  She prepared us more for parenting than we could have thought possible.

4.      “You may say that I am a dreamer, but, I’m not the only one.” We both have the travel bug or wonderlust if you will.  When we dream of traveling, it is always to another country.  So far, we have been to seven countries together.  With an influx of money and time we would travel nonstop. 

5.      The Red Hot Chili Peppers rock our world.  We walked down the aisle together to one of their songs…refer to number 1.  We once went to three shows in one months’ time frame because we couldn’t get enough.  One of those concerts was in England on a whim…see number 4.

6.      We both love dirty jokes.  No, for real, they’re funny.

7.      I have been pregnant 7 times.  We spent years trying to have a baby and decided we would just travel instead growing our family when we didn’t think we could.  And then we decided that we would have a million Bernese Mountain Dogs instead.  But, life turned directions, and now two of these babies warm our hearts and our arms every day.  We have 5 lost babies amongst the stars.

8.      It’s a regular joke in our house that we should have bought stock in pregnancy tests as we would now have enough money to travel nonstop.

9.      We never go to bed mad.  Okay, there was that one time…but, other than that, we promised each other that we would not go to bed mad and resolve every disagreement before we succumb sleep.

10.   We have watched the entire West Wing series at least 10 times. Note my earlier post that mentions how much we love Martin Sheen here. #BartletForAmerica #WeAlmostNamedADogBartlet

11.   We’ve had our top four kid’s names picked out since our first pregnancy and they haven’t changed.  It makes me feel like we need four kids, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t going to happen due to our never-ending fear of another miscarriage and that with every miscarriage we get a little older.

12.   Our romance began when I was a first-year student in college and Thomn was a fourth year.  He was the multicultural assistant for my building and thought my name was Lynn.  He has never been very good with names.

There is no other person that I would chose to spend this life with.  It probably sounds cliché, but I married my best friend and love our days together.  He laughs at my dirty jokes, looks interested when I find hummingbird nests in the trees, and always makes me feel loved.
